| Testi di riferimento | - Manuale di Ematologia- Corradini, Foà - Ed. Minerva Medica |
| Prerequisiti | Conoscenze di base di Citologia e Istologia |
| Metodi didattici | Il corso è strutturato in lezioni teoriche frontali e attività laboratoriali.
| Altre informazioni | La frequenza è fortemente consigliata. |
| Programma esteso | Generalità sul sangue. Le cellule ematiche circolanti nell’uomo: morfologia, ciclo vitale, ultrastruttura, variazioni fisiologiche e funzioni. Eritrociti e gruppi sanguigni. Leucociti. Piastrine. |

| Textbook and course materials | - Manuale di Ematologia- Corradini, Foà - Ed. Minerva Medica |
| Course objectives | Knowledge and understanding: The course aims to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of blood cells (erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets) and hematopoietic organs, together with the principles underlying the determination of the main chemical constituents of plasma and serum. In addition, students will understand the physiopathological and molecular bases of major hematologic diseases. |
| Prerequisites | Basic knowledge of Cytology and Histology |
| Teaching methods | The course is structured in frontal theoretical lessons and laboratory activities. The lectures are held weekly in the classroom with the support of PowerPoint presentations; laboratory activities take place in fully equipped laboratories with a sufficient number of microscopes for each student. |
| Assessment methods | The course's learning objective is certified through a written test and an oral test, both to be taken in the same session on scheduled dates. Each test is graded out of thirty, and a minimum score of 18/30 is required to pass. The written test, preparatory to the oral examination, consists of a 30-question questionnaire and lasts 40 minutes. The oral test involves a discussion aimed at assessing the level of theoretical knowledge, the ability to think critically, and mastery of technical scientific language. The final grade, expressed out of thirty, is obtained through a weighted average of the scores: 40% for the written test and 60% for the oral test. |
| Other information | Attendance is strongly recommended. Laboratory participation is mandatory. Students can use the course slides put at available from the teacher on the University website. The instructor meets students on the days indicated in the course syllabussheet and, upon request, at other times arranged via email. |
| Detailed syllabus | The blood. Circulating blood cells in humans: morphology, life cycle, ultrastructure, physiological variations, and functions. Erythrocytes and blood types. Leukocytes. Platelets. |
