| Lingua insegnamento | ITALIANO |
| Contenuti | Biomolecole: carboidrati, amminoacidi, peptidi e proteine, lipidi, acidi nucleici. |
| Metodi didattici | Il corso è strutturato in lezioni teoriche frontali.
| Programma esteso | La teoria cellulare. Lo sviluppo della biologia cellulare moderna. |

Mitotic cell cycle. Asexual and sexual reproduction. Meiosis, gametogenesis, fertilization. Outline of embryonic development and cellular differentiation. Structure and function of the main tissues: epithelia lining and glandular epithelia, connective tissues, muscle tissue, nervous tissue. Microscopes and common techniques used in optical and electron microscopy. |
| Textbook and course materials | Citologia e Istologia-Dini et al.- Ed. Idelson-Gnocchi |
| Course objectives | The course aims to provide students with an in depth understanding of the eukaryotic cell, with particular attention to the structure and functions of its organelles, and to enable them to recognize the morpho functional features of the fundamental tissues that constitute organs. Furthermore, the course will offer the foundations for understanding the main modes of animal reproduction, with specific reference to sexual reproduction, the stages of embryonic development, and the processes of cellular differentiation. |
| Prerequisites | Knowledges of Biology acquired by the school. |
| Teaching methods | The course is organized into frontal lectures. These lectures are held weekly in the classroom and supported by PowerPoint_presentations. |
| Assessment methods | The examination consists of a written test and an oral test, both to be taken during the same examination session on scheduled dates. Each test is graded out of thirty, and a minimum score of 18/30 is required to pass. The written test, which is preparatory to the oral examination, consists of a questionnaire of 40 multiple choice questions covering the topics addressed during lectures (50 minutes). The oral test involves a discussion aimed at assessing the level of theoretical knowledge, the ability to critically elaborate concepts, and the mastery of technical scientific terminology (about 20 minutes). |
| Other information | Attendance is mandatory (25% permitted absences). Students may use the teaching materials (course slides) provided by the instructor on the University website. |
| Detailed syllabus | The cell theory. The development of modern cellular biology. |
