| Altre informazioni | La frequenza è fortemente consigliata. |
| Programma esteso | Genetica mendeliana. |

| Course objectives | Knowledge and Understanding: The course aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge relating to the basic knowledge of the transmission, modification and expression of hereditary characteristics of eukaryotic cells and organisms and of populations, through the study of the methodologies of classical genetics and molecular genetics. |
| Prerequisites | Basic principles of Cellular and Molecular Biology |
| Teaching methods | The topics of the course will be treated with the help of Power Point presentations, video clips, classroom or laboratory exercises, reading of scientific articles. Expected learning outcomes: Knowledge and understanding of the transmission methods of hereditary traits and the main genetic methodologies. |
| Assessment methods | The achievement of the teaching objectives is certified by passing an exam with a rating expressed out of thirty. The exam is divided into a written test and an oral test, to be taken in the same session on scheduled dates. Each test is graded out of thirty and is considered passed with a minimum score of 18/30. The written test, preparatory to the oral test, consists of the administration of a questionnaire made up of 30 multiple choice and/or open-ended questions, lasting 90 minutes. Passing the written test will give access to the oral test. The oral test involves a discussion lasting approximately 30 minutes, aimed at ascertaining the level of theoretical knowledge, the ability for critical re-elaboration and the mastery of technical-scientific language. |
| Other information | Attendance is strongly recommended. During the semester, students are offered the opportunity to take an ongoing written self-evaluation test, structured in a similar way to the final exam, but limited to the program actually carried out up to that point. The teaching material (handouts, presentations, any further information) will be made available on Microsoft Teams and via email. |
| Detailed syllabus | Mendelian genetics. Mitosis, meiosis and their meaning in genetics - The Mendelian method - Mendel's laws: segregation and independent assortment-Cross-Reincorporation between Mendel's laws, mitosis and meiosis. |
