    Obiettivi formativi

    Course objectives

The aim of the course is to provide the basic tools necessary for the knowledge of cultivated and forestry plants as well as introduce towards the study of spontaneous ones. At the end of the course the student will have acquired the knowledge of basic Botany, with particular reference to the morphological, anatomical and functional aspects intended as a necessary premise to understand: the methods of vegetative propagation and reproductive mechanisms; the characters used in the identification of plants and their systematic classification.

In particular, the General Botany module has the objective of acquiring basic knowledge on the structure and organization of plants at various levels: cellular, histological and anatomical. In particular, analyze the functions of the different cell compartments and organelles, the cell division modalities, as well as the functional role of the different tissues and organs that structure a plant and the uses that they have for agronomic, forestry and food purposes.

    Teaching methods

The course of general, agricultural and forestry Botany consists of two modules and is carried out through lectures as well as seminars and exercises held in the classroom and in the field. Each module is divided into 48 hours (6 credits) of lessons carried out with powerpoint presentations.
The exercises will be conducted both in the laboratory and in the field. In laboratory exercises, the methodological bases for the determination of vascular plants will be provided by means of analytical keys. During the excursions, the teacher will guide the student towards the recognition of native and allochthonous species and adaptations of plants to critical environments.

For the general Botany Module an evidence passed test is required.

    Evaluation methods

The examination consists of verifying the level of knowledge and in-depth study of the tasks of the course and the reasoning ability developed by the student. The value of the final mark expressed in thirtieths will be weighted according to the number of CFU of each module.

The examination method of the General Botany module includes a written test and an oral evaluation. The written test consists of a test of 50 multiple-choice questions on the main contents of the program (plant cytology, histology, organography, ontogenetic cycles and plant physiology). The written test is deemed passed with an assessment equal to or greater than 25 correct answers. Passing the written test allows access to the oral test with the aim of ascertaining the level of knowledge of the contents, the skills of analysis, synthesis and interdisciplinary connections, the skills of critical sense and judgment formulation as well as communication skills and clarity of exposure in relation to the use of specific language. The final evaluation will be expressed in thirtieths and will take into account the results of the written test (40%) and the oral test (60%)
